PARALYMPIC BRONZE MEDALLIST TO RIDE JWJC
by Michael Tomalaris

Paralympic bronze medallist Jayme Paris has pledged her support by lining up to ride in the 2009 Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic.

The 19 year-old won a bronze medal in the 500 metre time trial at this year's Beijing Paralympics and also reached the medal round of the 3000 metres individual pursuit where she bettered her personal best time by a massive 17 seconds.

Jayme, a member of the Penrith Panthers club, says she is looking forward to making the trek down the NSW south coast in the 2009 Johnny Warren Jamberoo Classic.

"My father has just bought himself a bike of his own, so we're going to make it a real family affair," Jayme said.

"I've just started my training for the summer season so this will be perfect."

Jayme fell in love with cycling after watching West Australian track rider Claire McLean win gold at the Athens Paralympics in 2004.

"I saw Claire do so well and thought to myself I'll give it a go."

Jayme will join an elite group of cycling personalities who have taken part in the JWJC in past years.

These include Tour de France rider Matt White, Commonwealth Games champion Ben Kersten, Olympian Rochelle Gilmore and European-based professional Graeme Brown.
